Kava Minerals specializes in sourcing and distributing high-quality kava (Roots and Lawena).
Cultivation: Kava plants (Piper methysticum) are cultivated in suitable environments, typically in tropical or subtropical areas in the northern side of Fiji Island. The plants require well-drained soil and regular rainfall.
Maturity and Harvesting: Kava plants are harvested when they reach maturity, usually after 3 to 5 years of growth. The leaves and stems are removed, leaving only the root system. The roots are the most prized part of the plant for kava production.
Washing, Cleaning, and Sun Dried: The harvested kava roots undergo a thorough washing process to remove dirt, debris, and excess soil. It is then sun-dried. This step helps ensure the quality and purity of the final product.
Pounding: Traditionally, the cleaned kava roots are pounded into a fine powder. This process helps to break down the fibrous tissue and release the active compounds.
Straining: The powdered kava is strained to ensure that is perfect for mixing.
Packaging and Storage: The kava powder is packaged in suitable foil bags to maintain its texture and strength. Proper labeling and packaging are essential for ensuring product quality and compliance with regulatory requirements.
